Peter Paillou circa 1790. Lady wearing a feathered hat.

This lovely miniature is a fine example of the work of Peter Paillou junior.R.A. 1786-1800.It is very well painted and shows the sweet face of the young lady beneath her extravagently plumed wide-brimmed hat.It is set in a period locket frame, the reverse bearing the initials 'J.H.' on an oval of blue glass, on opaline which carries a lovely two coloured hair panel.

George Engleheart 1808 A young lady of the Madan-Mayers family.

A fabulous George Engleheart portrait miniature, it is of an attractive young sitter and is beautifully painted and signed with the cursive 'E' as well as being fully signed and dated on the reverse.It is set in a gilt locket frame with hair panel reverse.

Philip Jean late c18. Maria Duchess of Gloucester.

This lovely miniature was painted by Jean towards the end of the eighteenth century after an earlier portrait of her, taken around 1770 at which time she was about 34-5 years old.If the original portrait was much later than that, it was certainly a flattering likeness! It is set in the original locket frame with a blue guilloche reverse bearing the initial 'M' under a ducal coronet.

George Chinnery. Anne Thompson nee Bryan circa 1795

This fine miniature by Chinnery, is set in the period locket frame with an ornate reverse, having a gold mounted central cartouche with plaited hair, set on an opaline ground. The background shows reflections which are not present in the original.It has not yet been possible to find a history for Anne Thompson, it is under research.

A fine watercolour painting of John Ruskin,painted after a series of photographs by Elliott and Fry made in 1882.the miniature is inset in a blue velvet panel within a giltwood frame.

A beautiful portrait of Augusta Margaret Fitzclarence, taken in 1844. It is set in its original fine ormolu frame in a red leather travelling case.There is also a note from 'Grannie Goff' enclosed with it.The ivory is signed on the reverse and dated 1844 'Painted by Sir W.C. Ross R.A., miniature painter to the Queen.'
